Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Human Intelligence Group is committed to fostering diversity and supporting a culture of inclusion in every aspect of our work. This commitment includes the following goals:
- Conducting behavioral threat assessments, and behavioral threat assessment training, with an awareness of how neurodiversity, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, and religious background can impact how behaviors are perceived by people from different backgrounds.
- Encouraging diversity in the composition of behavioral threat assessment teams.
- Maintaining awareness of the ever-present potential for implicit or unconscious bias, and the dangers of explicit bias, in all aspects of our work.
- Seeking out peer-reviewed scholarship created by members of underrepresented groups.
- Using inclusive language in all publications and reports, and respecting each individual's freedom of self identification.
- Fostering a culture of allyship, internally and with our partners, in support of minority groups, to include: neurodiverse individuals, ethnic minorities, women, and LGBTQ+ persons.
- Actively supporting programs that seek equity: "The outcome of diversity, inclusion, and anti-oppression wherein all people have fair access, opportunity, resources, and power to thrive, with consideration for and elimination of historical and systemic barriers and privileges that cause oppression." (APA Resources)
At the HUMINT Group, DEI is not a single program or a single action, but rather an ongoing understanding of the impacts that inequality, injustice and bigotry have on the daily lives of our colleagues, those whom we protect, and also those who pose a potential threat of harm or criminal violence.
